Privacy Policy
The short version
- No account. You don’t sign up, and we don’t ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- We never see your trips. Fieldmiles has no servers that receive or store your trips or location.
- Your trips are stored on your phone and backed up to your own iCloud account (iPhone) or Google account (Android).
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google, with RevenueCat helping us confirm what you’ve bought. They get purchase records only, never your trips.
- No ads, and we don’t sell or share your data.
- Our website uses no cookies and only cookieless, aggregate analytics.
Information the app uses
Trips and location
To record drives automatically, Fieldmiles uses your phone’s location and motion services, including in the background when you allow “Always” (iPhone) or “Allow all the time” (Android) location access. The app uses this to detect drives and to save, for each trip, its start and end times, route, distance, and the places it started and ended. Trips also hold anything you add, such as whether a drive was business or personal, and any notes.
This trip data is stored on your phone. It is not sent to us, and we have no way to see it.
Backups to your own cloud account
Fieldmiles backs up your trips to your own cloud storage so you can restore them on a new phone: iCloud, provided by Apple, on iPhone, and your Google account, provided by Google, on Android. Backups are stored in your account under Apple’s or Google’s privacy policy and security. We can’t access them.
Purchases
If you buy Fieldmiles Pro, Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) processes the payment. We never receive your payment card details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to confirm which purchases are active on your device. RevenueCat receives purchase records: a random app user ID created by the app (not your name or email), the product purchased, purchase and renewal dates, store transaction identifiers, price and currency, and basic device and app information such as platform and app version. RevenueCat never receives your trips or location. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Maps
To show trips on a map, the app loads maps from your platform’s map provider: Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android. Like any map, the provider receives requests for map images of the area being shown, along with standard technical information such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy (Apple, Google). The map provider does not receive your trip log from Fieldmiles.
Crash reports and diagnostics
If you have chosen in your phone’s settings to share analytics or diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may give us crash reports and aggregate usage statistics. These do not include your trips. Fieldmiles includes no other analytics or crash-reporting tools.
Exports you share
When you export a PDF or CSV and share it, for example with your accountant, you choose where it goes. Once shared, the file is handled under the recipient’s or service’s own policies.
Our website
fieldmiles.com is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical data such as IP addresses and browser details to deliver and protect the site.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies. It collects aggregate information such as the page visited, referring site, country, browser, and device type, and does not identify individual visitors. The website sets no cookies, shows no ads, and loads no third-party scripts or fonts.
If you email support@fieldmiles.com or privacy@fieldmiles.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and to improve Fieldmiles support. We keep it as long as needed to help you, and we’ll delete it if you ask.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or share personal information, including for targeted advertising.
- We don’t show ads in the app or on the website.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We don’t use data brokers.
Your choices
- Delete your data: In Fieldmiles, go to Settings and tap Delete All Data. This removes your trips from your phone and your cloud backup.
- Location: You can change or turn off Fieldmiles’ location access at any time in your phone’s settings. Automatic tracking won’t work without it.
- Backups: You can manage or turn off iCloud or Google backups in your phone’s settings.
- Requests about information we hold: Because we don’t hold your trips, we can’t access, correct, or delete them for you; you control them in the app. For email you’ve sent us, or any other privacy request, including rights you may have under the laws of your state, contact privacy@fieldmiles.com. We won’t treat you differently for making a request.
How long data is kept
Trips stay on your phone and in your backup until you delete them. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat keep purchase records as their policies and the law require. We keep support emails as described above.
Security
Trips on your phone are protected by your phone’s security, and backups by your Apple or Google account. Use a device passcode and turn on two-factor authentication for your Apple or Google account.
Children
Fieldmiles is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact privacy@fieldmiles.com and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we’ll also let you know in the app.
